John Ford is known to have been one of the most outstanding film directors. He was able to win four Best Director Academy Awards compared to other directors of his time. John Ford was keen at directing western films and those adopted from novels. One of his greatest works was directing “The Quiet Man,” released in 1952. “The Quiet Man” is about Sean Thornton, an Irish American who decides to return to his ancestral home, Castletown, Ireland. He returns to Ireland after killing an opponent in the boxing ring in America. Thornton is hoping to buy his family’s homestead from widow Sara Tilane; however, the same property had also interested Will Danaher, who was brother to Mary Kate Danaher.
